App Review: Twitter Apps For The iPhone

September 8th, 2009

TweetdeckOkay twitter users, ready to step your tweet game up and get a sweet app for your iPhone? Here is a quick review of two of the most popular twitter apps available at the App store and best of all they are both FREE!

Tweet Deck: I was a big fan of the desktop application to begin with giving this one a huge advantage. In fact I was already using it on my Macbook well before I even downloaded it on my phone. As far as desktop apps for twitter go I think it really is one of the best around. Its easy to read and very customizable, and you can very easily operate multiple accounts with the application.

For the iPhone Tweet Deck mimics the layout and functions of the desktop app allowing multiple columns for what is most important to you such as @replies, DM’s etc. My personal favorite is the ability to easily create columns for specific groups of people, this allows me to see all the updates I want to see even while following a large number of people. I can also easily separate my tweets I want to read for business and ones from personal friends in to different columns.

twitterfonTwitterFon: Just recently decided to break away from Tweet Deck on my phone to try this one out and I must say I’m quite pleased with it so far. The lay out is very easy to read and operate a huge plus for any app that you like to use frequently. While the customization of the app may not be nearly as in depth as something like Tweet Deck it really is very easy to use and just overall a nice app for the constant tweeter (or twitterer what ever you want to call it)

So which one is better? In my opinion why not just get them both? I like the customization of Tweet Deck yet the simplicity and nice lay out of TwitterFon is appealing as well. Choosing just one could probably come down to a matter of personal preference and depend on what type of tweeting you do but more the average user I would say TwitterFon is the easier choice to get started with.
