Case Review: Defend Your iPhone With The Otter Box

September 14th, 2009

I get asked quite frequently what is a good case for the iphone or more importantly what case will best “protect” my iphone in the event of a drop, spill, crash, fire, and what ever other crazy crap people do to their phones.

After trying out tons of different ones and seeing thousands of people and their reviews in person, I would have to say if you are looking for protection the Otter Box is the way to go. Granted this may not be the most stylish case around and although it appears to be bulky its actually on millimeters thicker than most hard shell cases that only cover the back of the phone and offer no screen protection.

These cases really are about as tough as they claim to be, you can drop your phone and toss it across the room and 99% of the time it will be just fine. This is in part to the 3 piece construction and the tabs around the shell which absorb a lot of the impacts your phone takes when it hits the ground. The sealed nature and screen protector also make it very dust and water resistant. (Notice I did NOT say water proof!) Do not submerge this case in liquid like any other situation involving a wet phone it will not end well.

On another note this seems to be one of the best overall cases if your looking for something that you can clip on your belt. I personally don’t rock the belt clips but if that’s your thing or if its needed for work situations then this case is also the best choice, simply due to the fact its designed with the clip in mind. Most other cases with a clip require that the iphone be removed and other wise unprotected and the chances of you dropping it while trying to take it out of a clip are pretty good to say the least.

So if you are one of those people whining about how you think you can’t get an iPhone, because you might break it then fork over a few bucks and get the Otter Box.
